											Olympics, Here We Come!
											
										
									It’s a year overdue, but, finally, the ‘Tokyo 2020’ Summer Olympic Games are almost here. With the Opening Ceremony taking place this Friday 23 July, it’s a very exciting time. At St Peters, we’re getting set to witness multiple members of our current and Old Scholar communities take the world by storm, including our Swimming Head Coach, Dean Boxall, and seven St Peters Western (SPW) swimmers.

											Old Scholar’s Olympic Dreams Realised
											
										
									Eve Thomas (2018) was the first of Dean Boxall’s St Peters Western (SPW) swimmers to qualify for an Olympic team. Just three years out of high school, she qualified for the New Zealand team in Women’s 1500m Freestyle! As her fellow Old Scholars and current St Peters students continue trialing for the Australian Olympic swim team this week, we caught up with Eve to find out more about this huge achievement.

									Kerrie Anglin is a woman of many talents. Currently serving as Senior School Key Pastoral Care Teacher at St Peters Springfield, Kerrie is also a teacher and coordinator of Legal Studies, serves as WHS and Compliance Officer and much more. 									It’s no secret that the onset of COVID-19 disrupted what everyone once knew as ‘normal’, especially in the school setting. 2020 saw an absence of College events and, for a time, students on campus, but, surprisingly, it wasn’t all bad. Creative thinking thrived and, of that, many new programs and initiatives were born. One such program was the St Peters ‘Find Your Future’ program.

											Upper Primary Peace Pole
											
										
									In the lead-up to the centenary of Rotary Australia, the Rotary Club of Kenmore donated a Peace Pole to our Upper Primary students. The pole, one of just 100 donated in Australia, was officially welcomed by our Year 6 students on Tuesday 5 November, 2020—in the College’s 75th year.

Celebrated, typically, as a whole-of-College event, the pinnacle of the week is the Parade of Nations ceremony. 									At St Peters, we’re immensely proud of Ironbark. For years, our Outdoor Education program, based at Crows Nest in the Darling Downs, has been challenging and shaping our students—encouraging them to grow in their self-confidence and work closely with their peers away from the distractions of modern technology. 											New Ironbark tradition seen as badge of honour
											
										
									Last week a new tradition at St Peters was welcomed — the presentation of Ironbark Badges to formally recognise the completion of an extraordinary outdoor education program seen as a significant Rite of Passage for Year 9 students. Students from 9A, B, C & D were the first groups presented with their Ironbark badges by representatives from the 2018 9A–D groups.
