On Monday, we celebrated Multicultural Day at Indooroopilly, with the Multicultural Assembly and Parade of Nations in the morning and an International Food Fair at lunchtime. It was a fantastic celebration of many cultures, and a beautiful display of unity and strength in diversity. Many staff told me this is their favourite day of the year, which doesn’t surprise me. There were traditional costumes, joyful flag bearers, musical items, cultural dance, guest speakers from Multicultural Australia and Australian Lutheran World Service, and plenty of delicious cuisine to enjoy. The day was full of life and colour, joy and community.

St Peters has a rich history of cultural diversity, and it is an important part of who we are. We have always been a boarding community, welcoming students from international and regional locations, becoming their 'home away from home'. As a school of the Lutheran Church of Australia, we welcome the stranger just as Jesus encouraged us to. This year we had 46 flags in the Parade of Nations. People come together in this place of learning from different backgrounds, with different languages and cultural lenses that enrich our community. We come as guests to their different stories and lived experiences, just as they do to ours.

As a Christian school, we believe that all people have been created in the image of God and are therefore God’s image bearers. This impacts how we behave toward each other. Everyone holds innate dignity, no matter who they are or where they are from, and it is our divine task to care for one another, upholding and honouring that dignity. When we celebrate days like Multicultural Day, we enable members of our community to share more of themselves with us — giving us glimpses into different ways of being than we might otherwise know and enriching our lives along the way.

We thank you for creating each one of us as unique individuals, and for bringing us together in this diverse community. We thank you for our students and staff who willingly share their cultures and stories with us, so that we can grow in compassion, empathy and love. Give us generous hearts to see the best in each other and be open to learning and growing as we connect in different ways.

Every Wednesday, our student-led Cooking Club meets at lunchtime to share their passion for cooking, discuss recipes and plan events. This Wednesday, they celebrated our staff with a Gratitude Breakfast, which the staff loved! The Cooking Club also bakes throughout the year, raising money and awareness for Fare Share, a meal relief charity in Brisbane.

This week, our College community enjoyed a wonderful celebration of culture, connection and belonging through our annual Parade of Nations and a series of multicultural experiences led by our parents.

On Monday, our campus came alive with colour, music and excitement as students proudly carried the flags representing their families' heritage. With smiles beaming and flags waving high, students walked through the College community, demonstrating the rich diversity that makes St Peters such a vibrant and welcoming place. The enthusiasm from students, staff and families created a truly joyful atmosphere and highlighted the importance of recognising and celebrating the many cultures that contribute to our community.

The celebrations continued throughout the week as parents generously shared aspects of their culture with students in the Primary Years.

These events are much more than celebrations. They help foster understanding, respect and a strong sense of belonging. By learning from one another and sharing our unique stories, we strengthen the inclusive and connected community we value so highly at St Peters.

A heartfelt thank you to the parents who generously gave their time, knowledge and enthusiasm to lead these multicultural experiences. Your willingness to share your culture enriched our students' learning and helped create meaningful connections across our community.

Thank you also to our staff for their support and organisation, and to our students for embracing these opportunities with such curiosity, respect and pride. Together, we continue to build a community where every family is celebrated, every culture is valued and everyone feels they belong.

As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to thank all our families for their continued support and partnership throughout the term. Together, we have shared many moments of growth, learning and celebration, and it is through this strong home–school connection that our students truly flourish. Year 7

This week, our Year 7 students have been busy completing Term 3 assessment tasks. They also competed in an inter-Form Class Finska competition over the past few Pastoral Care lessons. On Monday, they enjoyed the festivities of Multicultural Week, with many seeing their first Parade of Nations and enjoying flavours from around the world during the International Food Fair. We also enjoyed entertainment by our Year 7 Chinese students.

Year 8

As we come to the end of Term 3, it is an excellent opportunity to reflect on the term.

We started the term with Year 8 Camp, which gave students a fantastic opportunity to challenge themselves, build friendships and create some great memories together. Since then, the term has certainly flown by, with plenty of learning, activities and events along the way.

This week, we celebrated a wonderful Multicultural Day. It was lovely to see our school community come together to celebrate the many cultures, traditions and backgrounds that make our community so special.

We also need to congratulate 8A, the winners of the Interform Challenge, who earned some well-deserved Krispy Kremes! A great way to finish off a busy term.

Well done to all our Year 8 students for their efforts throughout Term 3. We hope everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing and well-earned break, and we look forward to seeing you refreshed and ready for Term 4!

Year 9

Multicultural Day was a wonderful celebration of the diversity within our College community. It was fantastic to see many Year 9 students proudly wearing their cultural dress and sharing aspects of their heritage with others. Their pride and enthusiasm helped make the day a meaningful celebration of the many cultures that enrich our St Peters community.

We also warmly welcome 9GH back from Ironbark and look forward to celebrating their achievements at their Ironbark Graduation on Saturday. It will be exciting to see them return to school and share the experiences, challenges and memories they have gained during their time away. As 9JK prepare for their own Ironbark journey, we hope they use the holidays to get organised, prepare themselves and look forward to everything the experience has to offer.

The Solo Festival is St Peters' version of an eisteddfod. Students are invited to perform, listen to their peers and receive feedback from renowned performing musicians and educators, participating in either a competitive or non-competitive section.

In addition to the many benefits of playing a musical instrument, students can build their skills and self-confidence through public performance. It is also great practice for students who are sitting upcoming exams. Students can also use their Solo Festival performance as an audition for 2026 Music Ensembles (please note that auditions for Vox Camerata, Chorale, Soloists and Symphonic Winds will be held separately).

All students will receive a certificate of participation and a specialist adjudicator’s comment sheet. Additionally, students may enter the competitive section, where the winner will receive the section's perpetual trophy, which will be displayed during the year in the department display cabinets in the PAC foyer. The winning student will also receive a trophy as a memento.

Sections will be run in lieu of afternoon instrumental ensemble rehearsals in Term 4 Weeks 5 and 6. Each section will commence at 3:30pm. The Solo Festival Timetable is below – please note that sections may not be on the same afternoon as your usual rehearsal. Students are expected to stay for the entirety of their section and to be a supportive audience member.

With the exception of percussionists, each student is asked to perform one piece only. Percussionists will be expected to perform one piece each on a tuned (mallets or timpani) and untuned (snare drum or drum kit) instrument.

The time limit for sub-school sections is:

• Senior School maximum of 8 minutes
• Junior High and Upper Primary maximum of 6 minutes

Rehearsal time is offered for students (not including pianists), and we will send further notification about rehearsal times via email closer to the Festival.

Cost per student:

• Entry fee for Pianists: $20.00
• Entry fee for all other Instruments/Voice: $30.00
  (Accompanist provided for both performance and rehearsal)

Five outstanding St Peters musicians took centre stage in the Dron Auditorium on Sunday 30 August for the Performer of the Year Concerto Final, each experiencing the thrill and challenge of performing as a soloist with the St Peters Concerto Orchestra. The standard across the afternoon was exceptional, with each finalist demonstrating remarkable preparation, confidence and musicianship, delivering each concerto from memory.

One of the great joys of the afternoon was seeing each performer walk off stage with a smile after sharing such a significant musical experience with a full orchestra. Special recognition must also go to the St Peters Concerto Orchestra, whose concentration, sensitivity and attention to detail provided our finalists with orchestral accompaniment at a professional standard. The orchestra unleashed the exhilarating Finale from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, bringing an afternoon of exceptional music-making to a suitably powerful conclusion.

Congratulations to Nathan Niessl, our College Captain and now crowned Performer of the Year – Concerto 2026, following his passionate and compelling performance of the first movement of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto.

The Primary Twilight Concert on Thursday 3 September brought together our Primary Years ensembles for a wonderful evening of music in the PAC, showcasing the breadth and strength of cocurricular music across the Primary Years.

Throughout the evening, the audience enjoyed performances by Poco Voce, Animato Voce, Super Strings, Scherzo Strings, Presto Players, Bella Voce, Forte Voce, Sinfonietta Strings, Momentum Percussion, Junior Percussion Ensemble and Concert Band 2. Their performances demonstrated their developing musical skill and confidence, as well as the enthusiasm, commitment, and teamwork that are such important elements of ensemble music-making.

Congratulations to all of our young musicians on their performances and on the progress they have made throughout the year. It was particularly rewarding to see students at different stages of their musical development sharing the same concert stage and contributing to such an enjoyable and varied program.

Our thanks go to Primary Years Music Captains Aaron and Hetty, who compered the concert with confidence and poise, and to our senior student mentors and accompanists for the important musical support they provide. We also acknowledge our ensemble conductors, whose expertise, encouragement and commitment continue to inspire our students and foster their musical growth.

The Primary Twilight Concert was a fitting celebration of the vibrant culture of music within the Primary Years and of the many students, staff and families who contribute to the strength of our cocurricular music program.

St Peters in Concert, held on Sunday 13 September, showcased the great breadth and diversity of music across the Junior High and Senior School. Nearly 20 ensembles performed across two concerts (Matinee and Soiree), presenting an entertaining program spanning a wide range of musical styles.

Featuring choirs, bands, string orchestras and other ensembles from Years 7–12, the concerts provided a wonderful opportunity for students, families and friends to experience the depth of the College’s Cocurricular Music program. It was particularly rewarding for students to hear and support their peers and to appreciate the many different musical experiences taking place across the program.

Congratulations to all students on their impressive performances and the commitment and preparation they demonstrated. Thank you also to our conductors, directors, accompanists and staff whose musical leadership, encouragement and support continue to inspire our students and make performances such as these possible.

The 2026 QGSSSA Winter Fixture season was another successful and rewarding season for St Peters Girls Sport. Across all sports, our students demonstrated resilience, teamwork and a commitment to continuous improvement while representing the College with pride.

A special acknowledgement goes to our Open Volleyball team, who secured an impressive fourth consecutive premiership, a testament to the program's strength and consistency.

We thank our coordinators, coaches, managers, parents and Parent Support Groups for their ongoing commitment and support. The time, energy and encouragement you provide play a vital role in the success of our sporting programs.

A special thank you to our Year 12 students, many of whom represented St Peters for the final time. Your leadership, commitment and contribution to our sporting culture have left a lasting impact.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge Miss Buckby, Miss Le Sage, Miss Fitzgerald, and Mrs Marshall for their outstanding dedication throughout the season. QGSSSA Hockey – Season Wrap-up

St Peters QGSSSA Hockey fought hard right to the end, showing determination, resilience and plenty of spirit throughout the 2026 season. While it was a challenging season at times, the week-to-week improvement was clear.

The girls brought great energy to both training and game days, building a positive and supportive culture on and off the pitch. Whether they were long-time players or making their St Peters debut, every student grew in confidence, skill and understanding of the game.

Thank you to all the players for your commitment, positivity and willingness to represent the College with pride. You have truly embodied what it means to be a St Peters student, supporting one another, showing perseverance and giving your best throughout the season. Congratulations to all QGSSSA St Peters Tennis teams on a fantastic 2026 season! We are incredibly proud of the outstanding effort, commitment and sportsmanship our players displayed throughout the season.

Special congratulations go to our Junior A Team, who capped off an exceptional campaign by claiming the QGSSSA Premiership. This outstanding achievement reflects their dedication, teamwork and determination throughout the season.

Our Senior B Team also enjoyed an impressive season, finishing as Runners-Up, while the Junior B Team secured a well-deserved third-place finish. The Opens and Senior A Teams both competed strongly in challenging competitions and finished in fourth place in their respective divisions.

A special mention must go to the Junior C team, our newest team of enthusiastic young players, who embraced every opportunity to learn and develop throughout the season.

We were delighted to conclude the season with our end-of-season tennis presentations, a fun-filled evening celebrating all our players' achievements. It was wonderful to see our tennis families come together, enjoy time on the courts, and play tennis under lights, creating lasting memories and a fitting celebration of a successful season.

AIC Basketball Wrap-Up

The 2026 AIC Basketball season has been a memorable one for our Basketball program, highlighted by the 8C team winning the premiership after a fantastic campaign. The season featured several close victories, including the 8C team's thrilling one-point win over Padua College in Round 4. The 7A team secured a remarkable three-point victory against Marist in Round 2, while the 8A team opened their season with a hard-fought one-point win over St Patrick's in Round 1. Our 10A finished 5th, and our First V, despite being a young team, started the season with a great focus-round victory over St Patrick's College. These results showcased the determination, resilience, and teamwork of all players. A sincere thank you to our players, families, coaches and referees for their commitment and support throughout the season. Overall, it was an amazing year, and we look forward to building on this success next season.

AIC Tennis Wrap-Up

Congratulations to our AIC St Peters Firsts Tennis Team, crowned 2026 First IV Premiers after an undefeated campaign that saw them set the standard from start to finish.

St Peters also claimed the Aggregate Shield, recording podium finishes in 10 of the 11 divisions contested. An exceptional achievement that reflects the strength and consistency of the tennis program.

We were delighted to conclude the season with our end-of-season tennis presentations, a fun-filled evening celebrating all our players' achievements. It was wonderful to see our tennis families come together, enjoy time on the courts, and play tennis under lights, creating lasting memories and a fitting celebration of a successful season.
