This Thursday, we join Australians marking R U OK? Day—a reminder to check in with the people around us, and that meaningful conversations matter every day, not just once a year. In 2025, the day falls on Thursday 11 September, with the theme "Ask R U OK? Any Day."
At school, staff continue to prompt simple check-ins in Pastoral Care and CDR time, and we’ll share age-appropriate resources with students.
At home, you can make a real difference with the four practical steps: Ask, Listen, Encourage Action, and Check In.
Keep it natural ("You don’t seem yourself, want to talk?"), give space to listen without fixing, help your young person think about one next step (talk to a trusted adult, see a GP, plan some sleep/exercise), and follow up in a few days.
If a conversation feels hard, that’s normal—what matters is showing up and staying connected. For confidential support, please reach out to our counsellors, classroom teacher, or Year Level Coordinator.
At St Peters Springfield, we aim to build a culture of belonging and connection, a place where everyone is welcome, grounded in our values of Care, Dignity, and Respect. Today as part of R U OK? Day, it is important to remember that this culture can be built, one conversation at a time.

A Time for Everything
At this time of year, many of us are noticing the shift in the seasons. The cool mornings are softening, blossoms are appearing on trees, and the days are growing longer. Spring is making its quiet entrance. In creation, we see the gentle reminder that change is not only natural but also God-given.
Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Just as the earth moves through seasons of dormancy, growth, harvest, and rest, so too do our lives and the life of our College. Students grow and mature, staff pour out energy and care, and families navigate the rhythms of school, work, and home.
Some seasons are filled with joy and energy; others feel slower, even heavy. In both, God is present. The trees don’t rush their blossoms. They wait for the right season, and when it comes, the flowers unfold. Perhaps God invites us to live with that same patience—trusting that He is at work in us, even in the quieter, harder times.
At St Peters, we see this unfolding of seasons daily. A Prep student clutching a new Bible. A Year 12 student finishing their final assessments. A teacher encouraging a class through challenges. Each is in a different season of growth, yet all are part of God’s ongoing story.
As we continue through this school year, may we remember the God who holds all seasons. The God who brings new life out of barrenness, joy out of struggle, and hope out of waiting. May we, as a community, walk together with patience, trust, and gratitude for the One who makes everything beautiful in its time.
Prayer:
Loving God, thank You for being with us in every season of life. Give us patience when times are slow, courage when times are hard, and joy when times are full of growth. Help us to trust that You are always at work, making all things new in Your perfect time. Amen.

Important Notices
Continuing Enrolment 2026
Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
We would like to assure you that planning is well underway to ensure effective educational programs, staffing and administration at our school in 2026. As part of this process, it is important to confirm our expected student numbers for next year.
For students Continuing at St Peters Springfield in 2026
If your child will continue as a student at the College in 2026, no action is required. Unless the Head of Springfield or our Enrolments Office receive written advice from you indicating otherwise, we will assume your child is returning and their place at the College is secured.
For students Leaving St Peters Springfield at the end of 2025
If you plan for your child to leave the College at the end of 2025, we would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about your decision. While we understand that family circumstances and plans may change, we welcome your feedback and may be able to offer support or explore alternative options that can assist.
Please note that the College requires written notice at least one term in advance for any student withdrawing at the end of the year. The final date to provide notice is Thursday 18 September 2025.
If you have any questions about continuing enrolment or are considering enrolling a sibling, please contact our Enrolments Team at s.enrolments@stpeters.qld.edu.au or by phone 3470 3888.
Thank you for your continued support.

Sibling Enrolments
The College is blessed to be experiencing unprecedented growth and interest in enrolment.
Families with children already at St Peters Lutheran College Springfield wishing to enrol a sibling in future years are reminded to submit an online enrolment application for your child as soon as possible, if you have not already done so.
Please note that due to the high demand for places, applications for siblings commencing in 2027 and beyond should be received before the end of Term 3, 2025. A link to our online enrolment application form can be found here – Enrol with Springfield
Sibling interviews for 2026 applicants are anticipated to commence in Term 4, 2025 and continue through into Term 2, 2026. Our Kindergarten is separate to this, and families must ensure that they have registered their interest for a place directly with our onsite Kindergarten.
Families seeking enrolment in 2026 are urged to make immediate contact with the enrolments team to discuss availability. For further information, please contact the Enrolments Team via s.enrolments@stpeters.qld.edu.au or phone 07 3470 3888.
Thank you for your support.

Social Media Changes for Under-16s: What Families Need to Know (and Do)
From 10 December 2025, Australian law requires 'age-restricted social media platforms' to take reasonable steps to prevent under-16s from creating or keeping accounts. Platforms likely to be affected include Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X, and YouTube; services whose primary purpose is messaging, gaming, health, or education are generally out of scope. The onus sits with platforms (not parents or young people), and civil penalties for non-compliance can be significant.
What parents can do
Talk early, talk often: agree on what’s changing before 10 December and why. Use plain language about safety, wellbeing, and the law.
Audit accounts together: list every app, close under-age accounts, and switch on the strongest privacy settings and time limits.
Set a family tech plan: create clear rules for devices, bedrooms, and bedtimes; revisit regularly as the law rolls out.
Use trusted guidance: the eSafety Commissioner’s resources and webinars remain the best first stop; UNICEF offers balanced perspectives for discussions with teens.
What we will do at school
Continue to teach digital wellbeing and respectful online behaviour.
Communicate clearly with students and families about the changes and where to get help.
We continue to help our students make good choices regarding their online presence.
Share updates from eSafety Commissioner as the laws evolve.
We are excited to announce a Subway Meal Deal promotion on Thursday 18 September, to help raise funds for the upcoming Malaysia Service Trip.
Our team will be participating in a meaningful community initiative in Malaysia, where students will work on a beach clean-up and mangrove planting for marine ecosystem restoration and rehabilitation at the Sungai Sempit Mangrove Forest. This hands-on project will make a lasting environmental impact and provide our students with valuable service-learning experiences.
By purchasing a meal deal, you’ll be supporting both this important initiative and the students who are dedicating their time and energy to making a difference.
Please see the attached flyer for information on how to order your Subway meal deal. Order cut-off dates are Tuesday 16 September at 9:00am and will be delivered at morning tea on Thursday 18 September.
Thank you for helping us create positive change both locally and globally.
Performing Arts
The Arts
Why learning a musical instrument matters?
At a recent conference with guest presenter Dr Anita Collins, a Queensland secondary school music teacher shared that students were being discouraged from taking music learning in Years 11 and 12, until the local medical school stepped in. They had found their entire first-year cohort failed fine motor skills tests, and research showed learning music was one of the best ways to develop these vital surgical skills.
Advocacy can appear in unexpected places, reminding us that music learning builds abilities for success in any field. If you have your own surprising advocacy story, send it to us so we can share it widely.
St Peters Lutheran College Springfield Drama Presents A Night At The Theatre
Congratulations to the Primary and Secondary Drama Troupes for a fantastic Night at the Theatre last Friday evening, where over 100 audience members were entertained by our young performers. Thanks to Mrs Wilson and Mrs Scott for their work with the drama troupes this year, Ms Powell for her assistance with props and ticketing, Mihika R for the poster and Lucy L for her mentorship and work with the Primary Drama Trope, the Arts Captains, and Middle Leaders for their support.
Springfield Festival of Learning
Last Monday, St Peters Lutheran College Springfield hosted the Springfield Sings vocal workshop facilitated by leading Australian Composer Paul Jarman. We welcomed students from Springfield Central State School, Springfield Lakes State School, Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School and The Springfield Anglican College who joined members of Dolce Voce for the day. With over seventy students involved, the afternoon concert was a true celebration of the work achieved throughout the workshops. Some of the pieces were augmented by instrumentalists, with thanks to Srish G, Miandri K, Medha C, Alyssa B, Ruhika S, Barossa O, and Mihika R.
The following day, Paul worked with the entire Dolce Voce choir. Thanks to Charlotte C, Peyton H and Nithi S for their participation in the Hip Hop Workshop held at The Springfield Anglican College. Tomorrow night, Miandri K, Aleena M and Alyssa B will compete in the Rising Stars Competition at Woodcrest State College from 6:00pm. Thanks to Paul Jarman and David Mibus for accompanying the students. Thanks and appreciation to Mrs Gunn-Glazebrook, Mrs Schmeider, Mrs Campbell, Ms Powell, and the College Executive for their support of these events.

On Wednesday 17 September, selected secondary soloists will present a music and drama program at AVEO Springfield. This will be the second presentation this year, as our Primary students presented in June.

Volleyball Orange Round
Last Saturday’s Girls Volleyball Orange Round against Moreton Bay College was a colourful display of sport and community, raising awareness about blood cancer. Players and supporters wore orange in support of the Leukaemia Foundation and in memory of former St Peters student, Noah Smith. The Volleyball Support Group hosted a sausage sizzle and bake sale, raising over $2,300 on the day. This brings the total raised in 2025 across Boys and Girls Volleyball to nearly $5,600—an outstanding effort!
We’d also like to take a moment to acknowledge former St Peters parent, Kerry Banks, whose dedication to Volleyball at the College has been nothing short of amazing. A member of the Volleyball PSG since 2018, Kerry served as President from 2022 to 2025. Even after her youngest son, Jack, graduated two years ago, she continued to give her time and energy to support the program—driven by a genuine love of the sport (and, frankly, because she’s just that fantastic). Thank you, Kerry, for your remarkable contribution to St Peters Volleyball.
