From Our Head of College
Head of College Leave
Please note that I have recently been advised that I require surgery. This surgery has been scheduled for early next week. Following my surgery, I will be on medical leave for the remainder of the term, recovering and recuperating, ready to return at the beginning of Term 2.
During my absence, Mrs Lisa Delaney will be Acting Head of College and Ms Lisa Challenor will be Acting Deputy Head of College.
I would ask that you uphold me and my doctors in prayer as I undergo surgery and recovery. I look forward to returning to St Peters ready and raring to go at the start of next Term.
Our New Strategic Intent
Last week, we launched our new Strategic Intent Plus Ultra More Beyond 2030 with our community. A key Strategic Pillar is Empowering Teaching and Learning, where our Intent is to: Enable excellence in learning, every day, in every learning experience, for every learner, for life.
In order to realise this Intent we have two Strategic Initiatives that we will be focused on implementing:
- Design and implement a coherent and impactful Secondary Years learning framework, enhancing learning outcomes and empowering students.
- Embed the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) within the Primary School.
When I launched our Strategic Intent with College staff, I endeavoured to paint a picture for them of what each Strategic Intent would look like when realised. Knowing what we aspire to is important, as it helps create clarity and a shared understanding.
Here is the short aspirational paragraph pertaining to the first strategic initiative that I shared with staff:
As teachers, we bring the Secondary Years learning framework to life by designing coherent and impactful learning experiences that connect across subjects and year levels. We use the framework to ensure consistency in expectations, pedagogy, and assessment, so students experience clarity and purpose in their learning. Each lesson is intentionally planned to enhance learning outcomes while building students’ confidence and independence as learners. Through this shared approach, we empower students to make sense of their learning and see how it fits into a bigger picture. In doing so, we create a Secondary Years experience that is rigorous, aligned, and deeply empowering for every student.
