A Parents & Friends Initiative

Service Learning is a huge extra-curricular program at St Peters Indooroopilly—one that extends from the Primary Years, all the way through to Year 12. But did you know that it goes even further than that? The St Peters Community Hub is Service Learning in action; it’s an initiative run by a group of volunteers from the College’s Parents & Friends (P&F) group that works to support both the St Peters and wider community in many varying ways.

So just what is the St Peters Community Hub, and how can you get involved?

Outreach, Support and Connection

The St Peters Community Hub meets in the St Peters Indooroopilly P&F Centre every Thursday morning during Term time (7:45am – 12:00pm). The operation is two-fold—our 'Hubsters' run the Second-Hand Uniform shop to fund a range of incredible service projects throughout the year and, simultaneously, gather together to create, chat and make community connections.

Each week, volunteers at the Hub knit, stitch and pack a range of items for charity groups. Throughout the year, they provide beanies and blankets to Knitting for Brisbane’s Needy (K4BN) and Making a Difference (MaD); they pack supplies to be donated to the likes of Bravery Box (Rewards for Kids with Cancer) and Bundaberg’s Indigenous Wellbeing Centre (IWC); and, in moments of global crisis, they provide clothing, toiletry and school supply kits to groups doing it tough.

The St Peters Community Hub spreads its arms far and wide, but they do not work alone. Donations come in from Old Scholars, students and neighbours to the College. Every week, a range of parents and caregivers, from Prep to Year 12, come along to spend what time they’ve got helping our Hubsters make a difference.

Joining the St Peters Community Hub

The St Peters Community Hub is open to all parents and friends of St Peters Lutheran College. Whether you’re looking to buy or sell second-hand uniforms; you’d like to drop in for five minutes to see how it all works; or you’d like to stay for a coffee, morning tea and a chat, our Hubsters are waiting for a visit from you! To join the Hub, simply turn up between 7:45am and 12:00pm on Thursdays during Term time.

Have something special to offer?

If you have a special talent, or an item you’d like to donate to the St Peters Community Hub, please get in touch with our Hubsters directly. They are very active on their Facebook page and a quick check-in there will help you see all the projects they’re currently working on.
