The St Peters Community Hub meets in the P&F Centre every Thursday during Term time. Run by a group of tireless volunteers, it’s a place of outreach, support and connection. Two St Peters Future Problem Solving (FPS) teams have been selected to compete in the FPS National Finals this October. To get there, the students explored the topic of Human Environmental Impact and, in the final, they’ll move to investigating the future of Personalised Medicine. Some big issues there, but nothing our students aren’t equipped to handle.

Across the world, 789 million people live in extreme energy poverty. When the sun sets each night, these people are either plunged into darkness or forced to rely on unsafe energy sources. To combat this, our Year 6 students took part in a SolarBuddy workshop and built solar lights for children in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Year 12 student, Grace S, recently joined an elite group of St Peters students, becoming the 29th student to receive a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Eve Thomas (2018) was the first of Dean Boxall’s St Peters Western (SPW) swimmers to qualify for an Olympic team. Just three years out of high school, she qualified for the New Zealand team in Women’s 1500m Freestyle! As her fellow Old Scholars and current St Peters students finish trialing for the Australian Olympic swim team this week, we caught up with Eve to find out more about her huge achievement.

Last week, our first group of Year 7 students completed their Ethi‘Cool’ Project presentations. Challenged to combine technological innovations with concepts of ethics, the students produced a range of great, innovative solutions.
